GridReadiness is an independent data center consulting firm and expert network, covering France and Europe. We work with developers, operators, investors, lenders and public bodies on what decides whether a project happens on time: grid connection, high-voltage equipment, permits, local acceptance, compliance and financing. One point of contact frames the mission and coordinates the right experts.

No single discipline covers a data center project. Foreign developers and funds arriving in France often meet the same surprises: a connection date that is not the one announced, transformers ordered too late, a municipality that discovers the project at the public inquiry. Our role is to spot these issues early and deal with them in the field.

WHAT WE DO

Market intelligence: tracking of grid and equipment lead times, queue reforms, projects and local challenges in France.

Grid connection audits: review of an RTE or Enedis study, connection offer (PTF) or agreement: solution, works and realistic timeline.

Equipment audits: transformers, HV switchgear, generators: lead times, suppliers, supply risks.

Readiness Manager: an independent coordinator who holds your project schedule around the grid date: deadline register, experts, permits, equipment, lenders.

Electrical and standards audits: independent review of the connection, electrical architecture, studies and standards (NF C 13-100, NF C 13-200, EN 50600, Tier), with a compliance matrix.

Lender and investor due diligence: independent analysis of grid connection, equipment and permits before commitment.

Land pre-assessment: can your site host a data center? Power, substation, zoning, water, local context, before you commit to a study or a negotiation.

Support for local authorities: an independent view for municipalities and inter-municipal bodies hosting a project.

Crisis management: preventing blockages, consultation, crisis communication when a project is challenged.

Battery storage projects: grid connection, equipment and permits for BESS projects, which target the same substations as data centers.

Expert staffing on long assignments: HV grid connection, high-voltage electrical, commissioning, compliance: network experts to strengthen your teams for several months.

WHO WE WORK WITH

Data center developers and operators, landowners, EPC contractors and electrical integrators, infrastructure funds and lenders, battery storage developers, and the municipalities and public bodies hosting a project, in France and across Europe, including US and international developers building in France.

HOW WE WORK

One point of contact frames the mission, coordinates the experts and delivers the results. Independent experts are brought in as needed, each in their field. Scoped missions: scope, deliverables and timing agreed in a written proposal.

Our independence ruleNever, on the same project, for both the developer and the host community. No commission on equipment or site transactions. And when one of our experts works for a developer or an EPC, we do not carry out lender due diligence on that project.

OUR METHOD IN FOUR STEPS

1. Framing. A first call to understand the situation, then a written proposal: scope, deliverables, timing, price.

2. Mobilisation. The network experts suited to the question, and only them, coordinated by one point of contact.

3. Analysis. Review of documents (connection offers, permits, contracts), discussions with stakeholders, site visit if needed.

4. Deliverable and follow-up. A written, reasoned conclusion presented in a debrief, then follow-up if the project changes.

THE FOUNDER

Frédéric Arnaud founded GridReadiness and coordinates the network. He started in financial audit at PwC, then industrial performance consulting at Celerant Consulting (Hitachi Consulting) for large European groups, before fifteen years in general management. LinkedIn profile.

RECENT MISSIONS

Grid connection timeline review for a European data center developer: independent analysis of the connection documents and the announced energisation date.
Equipment sourcing audit for a petrochemical group: review of suppliers, lead times and supply risks.

HOW TO VERIFY US

The company: GridReadiness is a brand operated by a company registered in France; its name, registration number and registered office appear in our legal notice and on its Pappers company record. The experts are named on our network page. Every mission is set out in a written proposal. References are available on request, anonymised where required.

HOW TO CHOOSE A DATA CENTER CONSULTING FIRM

Independence. A firm that designs, builds or sells equipment has an interest in certain solutions. Check that it is paid only by you, with no commission from suppliers or land sellers.

Scope. A data center project depends as much on grid connection, permits and local context as on engineering. A firm that covers one topic leaves you coordinating the rest.

The experts. Ask who will actually do the work, with what background, and check it on LinkedIn.

References and the company. Missions are often confidential, but a serious firm describes their nature, provides references on request and publishes its legal details.

The deliverable. Prefer a written, usable conclusion, such as a compliance matrix or a deadline register, to a general report.

WHAT A MISSION COSTS

Price depends on scope, but the formats are simple: a diagnostic or audit on a fixed fee, scoped over a few weeks; a part-time Readiness Manager on a monthly fee; expert staffing on long assignments at a daily rate. Every mission is set out in a written proposal stating scope, deliverables, timing and price, after a first call to understand your situation.

CONSULTING FIRM, ENGINEERING FIRM OR REAL ESTATE ADVISER?

Engineering and design firms design and build the facility. Real estate advisers find and transact sites and capacity. An independent consulting firm like GridReadiness checks, before and during the project, what will decide its timeline: the grid date, equipment, permits and local acceptance. The three are complementary.

THE FRENCH DATA CENTER MARKET IN FIGURES

In 2024, the 471 French data centers consuming more than 1 GWh a year used 4.3 TWh of electricity, up 7%, with 63% in the Paris region (SDES, July 2026). Over 200 large industrial and data center projects have secured 33 GW on the transmission grid, including about 18 GW for some 80 data center projects (RTE, 2026). There is no official ranking of market players, but leading colocation operators include Equinix, Digital Realty, Data4 and Telehouse, alongside OVHcloud and the major cloud providers. Our monthly grid report tracks the numbers.

What is GridReadiness?

An independent data center consulting firm and expert network in France and Europe, covering grid connection, equipment, compliance, permits and local context, lender due diligence, crisis management, project coordination (Readiness Manager) and expert staffing.

How do I choose a data center consulting firm in France?

Check its independence (no commission from suppliers or land sellers), the breadth of its scope (grid, permits, local context, engineering), who will actually do the work, its references and legal details, and the form of its deliverable.

How much does a data center consultant cost?

It depends on scope. Common formats are a fixed-fee diagnostic or audit, part-time support on a monthly fee, and expert staffing at a daily rate. Every mission is set out in a written, priced proposal.

Do you work with foreign developers and investors?

Yes. Many of our topics, such as reading an RTE connection offer, the French queue rules or local consultation, are exactly where foreign developers and funds need support in France.
