Typical situation no. 13
A farmer and his family own 20 ha alongside an extra-high-voltage line in the Somme. Two companies have approached them within six months for an option. They do not know whether data centers are genuinely interested in their land, or at what price.
WHAT IS BLOCKING
- Being near a 400 kV line does not mean being able to connect to it: a substation is needed, and therefore RTE's agreement and timeline.
- Option proposals can tie up the land for several years for a small fee.
- The land must also be buildable, accessible and compatible with its surroundings.
WHAT WE DO
- Analysis of the land: nearby grid, planning rules, environmental constraints, access.
- Assessment of the real interest for a data center and of the achievable power levels.
- Review of the option proposals received and of the points to negotiate.
- Independent opinion, with no commission on the sale.
WHAT YOU GET
- A land qualification note.
- The points of attention in the promises or options received.
- An assessment of what gives the land its value.
Typical format: Desk-based assessment, one to two weeks. Every assignment is scoped in writing before it starts.
