Data center design, audits & energy optimisation
BACKGROUND
Francis Gillard has thirty years of experience in HVAC engineering, twenty of them dedicated to data centers and critical infrastructure serving IT systems. He is an Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer and certified in data center design and operations management.
He works at every stage of a site's life: design, construction follow-up, commissioning, then audits and expert reviews of operating sites. He has worked for industrial groups, insurance and audit firms, data center operators and telecom operators, on sites of up to 30 MW.
WHAT HE BRINGS TO A DATA CENTER PROJECT
Design and design review: choice of cooling and power distribution systems, redundancy levels, consistency with the target Tier level and industry standards (TIA-942).
Audits and risk analyses: identifying single points of failure and risk situations on an existing site, then proposing corrections, so that IT teams and facility managers can focus on their own work.
Feasibility studies: checking that a building or project can take the planned power and cooling before detailed design begins.
Energy optimisation: reducing the consumption of cooling and infrastructure, now central with data center reporting and performance obligations.
WHO IT IS FOR
Developers and owners who want a design reviewed, operators who want an independent audit of their facilities, investors who want to know the technical condition of a site before committing.
HOW HE WORKS
Francis works within the GridReadiness network, which remains your single point of contact, on one-off audits, studies or longer assignments, subject to availability. Each assignment is set out in a written proposal.
