The problem. "100 MW available" can mean a transformer nameplate in MVA, capacity requested but not confirmed, or a site's total consumption. For a data center, what counts is usable IT capacity, once cooling on the hottest day, design margin and auxiliaries are removed. This tool gives the order of magnitude.
Simplified calculation. Redundancy (N+1, 2N) applies to internal equipment rather than grid capacity, but a margin is needed for maintenance and peaks. Does not replace a study.
WHAT THE CALCULATOR DOES NOT TELL YOU
Whether the capacity is actually confirmed, from when, with which limitations and works. That is what a document-based check is for. For a former industrial site, see also what a brownfield's MW are really worth.
HOW IT WORKS
WHAT WE COMMIT TO
Review of connection documents and the announced energisation date for a European data center developer, ahead of its investment decision. Audit of high-voltage equipment sourcing for a petrochemical group.
We do not design, build or sell equipment. No commission, no brokerage. Never on both sides of the same project.
Confidentiality agreement before any document. Professional liability insurance. Best-efforts obligation: only RTE and Enedis commit to capacity and a date.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why divide by peak PUE rather than average PUE?
Because the site must run on the hottest day, when cooling uses the most. Annual average PUE is for energy, not sizing.
